Your Bank for Life — More Than 130 Years Strong
For 136 years, TFNB has been more than a bank—we’ve been a trusted neighbor, a steadfast partner, and a pillar of the Central Texas community.
Founded in 1889 as The First National Bank of McGregor, we are the oldest bank in McLennan County and the seventh oldest national bank in Texas still operating under its original charter. But our story isn’t just about longevity; it’s about the relationships we’ve built and the communities we continue to serve.
Rooted in Central Texas; Growing With You
In 1957, we moved from our original location on 217 S. Main in McGregor to a more modern space just down the street—where our downtown McGregor branch stands today. Since then, we’ve been committed to growing alongside the people and businesses that make Central Texas home.
The 1960s brought new leadership when local businessmen, including Pat Beard and David Kultgen, took ownership. Their legacy of community-driven decision-making shaped TFNB into the bank it is today. Their influence extended beyond banking—through their law firm, Beard, Kultgen, Brophy, Bostwick, Dickson & Squires, and their involvement with Waco’s iconic Bird-Kultgen Ford dealership.
